Nadia Vassell began mastering her hairstyling craft in Montego Bay, Jamaica. At the tender age of ten, her braiding technique was legendary. Despite her prodigious talent, Nadia’s career as a hairstylist took a backseat as the budding catwalk vixen migrated to New York City to pursue her modeling aspirations. Much to her delight, Nadia attained early success appearing in hair magazines and runway shows.
As Nadia moved about the modeling industry she found herself styling the manes of fellow models during photo shoots. The techniques she developed as a child re-surfaced as Nadia created styles with undetectable hair extension methods. Nadia quickly became known as a weave specialist and moved up the ranks of New York City’s cutthroat beauty arena.
Nadia’s masterful weave methods and other unique styles attracted the attention of celebrities like Rihanna, rapper and actress Lil’ Mama, Chrisette Michelle, actress Tika Sumpter, and Ashanti. She’s also been featured in publications including Essence, Black Sophisticate, XXL Eye Candy, Heart and Soul, Smooth, and Uptown Magazine.
As the proprietor of Nadia Vassell Salon, Nadia’s impeccable technique and attention to detail are ever-present. She works diligently to provide the same premier service to her clients. She continues to be a student of her craft as an evolving hairstylist. In her growth, she offers support to aspiring hairstylists in the United States and the Caribbean.
